I was recently hired to work in a center that services handicapped and intellectually disabled individuals . My group is a group of adults who are fairly high functioning . As a former fine artist with a masters degree I am new to this field -however I have raised twin boys with mild autism so I have been greatly exposed to many therapeutic modalities. Any materials on both the conference or symposiums would be of great use to me going forward in this job . I found your background fascinating .I am concerned that not having any certification in the field might hold me back for any future positions- so any information you have about credentialing would be of use to me . I see that the organization called global alliance for arts and health is now defunct . Has this organization taken it’s place ? My name is Laurie Bretthauer. I look forward to hearing from you .

Laurie, thank you for the kind words. My hope is NOAH fills the void in the community. NOAH has their website up and running so you can gather additional information here: NOAH.

Web_Henry-Domke_3123Why This Blog?

I started this blog several years ago to learn more from experts about using art in healthcare. It became the basis for my book "Picture of Health: Handbook for Healthcare Art." The intended audience includes interior designers, art consultants, architects, framers, hospital staff and artists. As a doctor, I know what stressful places hospitals can be. Hopefully the blog will help us all create more comforting, healing places.
