Inspiration – 5 Key Components of Working with Images for Big Print

Inspiration – 5 Key Components of Working with Images for Big Print

The installation page of the website is one of our most popular. When a new installation shows up in our inbox it provides the opportunity to see my artwork through the eyes of a designer. Displayed on this page are examples of a recent installation at the All Saints Cancer Center in Racine, WI. These… Read More

Black and White Photographs for Healthcare – Exceptions to the Rule?

Black and White Photographs for Healthcare – Exceptions to the Rule?

I’ve written a few blog posts in the past about black and white photographs for healthcare. A client recently asked me if I still believe black & white should be avoided in hospitals and medical offices? Based on research, the general public dislikes abstract art and research proves that it is inappropriate for healthcare. Since… Read More

Heavenly Light

Heavenly Light

Each day I am reminded nature provides us with many opportunities to heal. Golden light is one of those moments that if captured can be spiritual. Images of the early morning sun shining through the trees, grasses or across the prairie are a few examples of images used in many faith-based organizations to convey spirituality… Read More

Web_Henry-Domke_3123Why This Blog?

I started this blog several years ago to learn more from experts about using art in healthcare. It became the basis for my book "Picture of Health: Handbook for Healthcare Art." The intended audience includes interior designers, art consultants, architects, framers, hospital staff and artists. As a doctor, I know what stressful places hospitals can be. Hopefully the blog will help us all create more comforting, healing places.
